Still on Bwanha-Hana

Just a quick note. We sail with the tide. I hope.
Yes, we’re still on Bwanha-Hana. For several days the captain of the Bearington and most of his crew were no where to be found. As it happens, they were off on a drinking binge. They apparently consumed large quantities of Orange Crush, then had to sleep it off.
Meanwhile, we paraded up the mountain with the happy locals. It was a very unusual parade, I must say. Lots of strange singing. It was a long parade and a long walk, my feet were hurting. But we finally arrived at the top, where we could look right in to the volcano.
Then the chief asked the most curious question. He wanted to know if we’d like to donate ourselves to the greater good, by jumping in. Penny and I thought it was a lovely compliment. After some thought the fellas suggested that perhaps we should graciously decline, though agreed it was a flattering offer. Penny and I didn't argue the point. We told the chief how appreciative we were, then scurried back down the mountain, well ahead of the parade. I’d completely forgotten about my sore feet!
We were so glad to be back on flat land, I must admit, we too indulged in a few too many Orange Crushes.
Bwanha-Hana is a most peculiar island, and I can’t say that we’ll miss it. We have no idea where we’re headed next, but we’re hoping our next port of call will be a little tamer and a lot more relaxing.
Till then.
Hugs,
Miss Chloe
Oh, yesterday we were introduced to Spencer the spider. A very nice gent. Very interesting and amazingly worldly. We all took to him right off. After a bit of persuading, he’s agreed to come along with us, on our voyage. Isn’t that lovely. We've made a new friend!

Greetings from Bwanha-Hana!

Well, Fred made all the travel arrangements and we never thought to question his judgment. Perhaps we should have. I was expecting the SS Bearington to be a cruise ship, it turned out to be a banana boat.
Penny and I were shocked when we arrived at the dock. There was a tired old boat where a cruise ship should have been. We debated over going, or going home. Did we want to venture forth on a banana boat or go home to the cuddle. We finally decided to go forth, mainly because Fred and Charlie were begging us to. They said the SS Bearington had almost all the amenities of a cruise ship.
Not! The SS Bearington is no cruise ship, or anything that remotely resembles a cruise ship. My mink wrap was totally out of place. And so was I.
However, being the good sport that I am, decided to forego my fur for a sarong and flip-flops. (But I’ll never not wear my diamond earrings!) Penny also packed away her lovely shawl and surrendered herself to wearing more appropriate attire.
Our first port of call is a tiny little island, somewhere in the middle of the south pacific. It’s called Bwanha-Hana. Its inhabitants are very strange indeed. They drink a lot of Orange Crush and give offerings to a volcano. I’m not sure about this place. It’s a bit spooky. I’ll be glad to get back on the Bearington. Never thought I’d be saying that.
Our next stop is, well I’m really not sure. The crew were a bit vague when we asked.
The weather, however, has been lovely. I’m wearing my large safari hat to protect myself from the sun. I wouldn’t want to fade.
Sorry, but I haven’t found any postcards, or for that matter, any souvenir shops. I don’t see any other tourists, either.
The locals are gathering for some sort of parade up the mountain to the volcano. How curious. They’ve invited us to go along. They’re all dressed up and insist we do the same. We’ve accepted, of course. It’d be rude not to. I think I’ll wear my fur.
So we’re off on another adventure.
I’ll try to write from our next port of call, wherever that may be.
Aloha!
Hugs,
Miss Chloe

It's So Exciting!

Oh, you just won’t believe…
Fred won the lottery!
I didn't even know he played the lottery.
So Charlie, Penny, Fred, and I are off on a world cruise. We're sailing on the SS Bearington.
Our bags are all packed and we leave this evening. Maybe we'll even get to go on safari!

I'm wearing my diamond earrings and my lovely fur stole. Penny will wear her favorite lovely shawl, with flowers in her hair (she's our little hippy). Fred will wear his top hat and spats and Charlie is going to wear his best bow tie and cufflinks. And, of course, Charlie will be bringing his camera. After all, we'll be world travelers, so we need to look the part.

My lady is sad to hear we're going away, but also very happy for us. The cuddle has promised to keep her company while we're gone.
We will miss the cuddle so very much, and my lady, but we'll be back.

Oh I am so excited! I should be napping with the cuddle right now, but I simply can't sleep. I am just too excited!
I'll try to write as often as I can, that is if I can find a computer to borrow. Maybe on the ship.
I made this lovely collage last night, of me! It's big big big! To keep you from missing me too much, while we're away. I hope you like it. I also did my blog ocean blue, just for you!

I don't even know what our first port of call will be. I don't know which way we're sailing. But it doesn't matter. It'll all be so lovely.
What an adventure we'll have!

I must run. Penny needs help choosing which flowers to wear in her hair, Charlie can't find the spare batteries for his camera, and Fred is looking for a cane to take. I think he thinks he's Fred Astaire. What would they do without me!
Bon Voyage, my friends!

Miss Chloe

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!
Fred and I were the Grand Marshals of this years Cuddles Easter Parade. We had more participants, as our cuddle seems to be growing, making our parade even more fun. Everyone was decked out in their finest. We all looked so very lovely. I wore my favorite Easter hat!
Afterwards, we went Easter egg hunting. Someone surreptitiously hid lovely colored eggs for us to find. I found one in my toothbrush holder and another in a lamp socket. Fred found one in his trouser drawer and Penny found one in with her hair curlers.
We found unusual foot prints in some baby powder I’d gotten on the floor. (I love baby powder. It smells so pretty.) They don’t belong to any of us. I wonder if our mystery egg hider made them.
I started reading the dictionary! I’ve decided to use a new big word every day. My first new big word is surreptitiously, which I surreptitiously used today. Did you notice it? I’m so surreptitiously clever!
Time for a nap.
Hugs,
Miss Chloe

Breakfast in Bed!

This morning Fred and Charlie decided they wanted to surprise Penny and me with breakfast in bed. They made pancakes. They couldn’t find any strawberry jam, which I’m extremely fond of, so they used raspberry salsa. It didn’t look appetizing enough, so they added a few marshmallows.
Smiling from ear to ear Fred and Charlie proudly presented us with this most unusual breakfast, complete with some pretty yellow flowers. It was so sweet of them. The pancakes, however, weren’t. But we didn’t let on. We ate a few bites then, when they became preoccupied with their shadows, tucked the rest under a pillow.
Afterwards, we looked through some of my lady’s bins today. It’s always so much fun. We found some items we couldn’t identify but were quite lovely. Then Penny pulled out a scrap of fabric and I gasped with excitement. The fabric looked like me! Penny found my ancestors, it’s my genealogy! The discovery simply took my breath away.
It was a just a tiny snippet. We searched for me, but no more was to be found. Still, it’s something. What a wonderful find!
Now we’re off on a scavenger hunt.
Hugs,
Miss Chloe
Oh, Charlie took this picture when I wasn’t looking. He’s such a sweet sneak. Aren’t I pretty!

Yummy

Fred showed up for pinochle, last night (well, not technically, since it’s now tomorrow) covered in bits of fur. He told me he glued them on because he wanted to be a furry bear. I was horrified by the sight of him.
He then shouted April Fool! I was so relieved to find he’d just wrapped himself in fur and wasn’t permanently affixed in fur. Wish I had my camera with me. He was quite the sight, dripping in tiny pieces of different colored furs.
We had all agreed, no more April Fool jokes, as they were getting totally out of hand. But not Fred, who dances to the beat of a different drummer. Which makes him his lovable self, and my main squeeze. He’s yummy!
Fred and I strolled around the garden afterwards, and after he unwrapped himself of all that fur. It was chilly out, but otherwise quite lovely. I like chilly nights. Fred always puts his arm around me to keep me warm. Yummy yummy.
We were looking for Carl, but couldn’t find him. We did, however, have a very nice chat with a strange fellow sitting in a tree. At first all we could see was his grin. Then his face appeared, then the rest of him. He was uncommonly colorful. How very odd. We chatted a while with this fancy gentleman. He was very friendly. Then he started vanishing, little by little, until once again we could see only his grin. Then poof, it was gone as well. We were very confused.
In the wee small hours of the night, when all the cuddle was fast asleep, I mused about our little adventure and made this picture.

I also wrote a poem:
Tiny little bubbles of green
festively adorn each tree
While birdies flutter this way and that
with mouthfuls of nests to be.
Mason bees busy at work
helping flowers grow
As tree frogs sing their endless song
in the valleys below.
I hear and I see
as never before
life rebirthing
just out my door.

Hugs,
Miss Chloe

Happy Spring!

Oh, I just love Spring! Flowers are blooming and birdies are building little homes for their babies-to-be. The sun is even coming out from behind the clouds a little more often, warming our hearts and souls.
So, in honor of Spring, I changed my colors!
What do you think? Isn’t this just so Springy!
I looked all over for a pretty color combination, but couldn’t find just what I wanted. As I sat on my lady’s bed, staring into a mirror on the wall, frustrated but not willing to give up, I saw them. Just the colors I was looking for. On me!
They were my very own colors! My colors are perfect! All I needed to do was look down. I’m Spring! I’ll have to thank my lady. Pretty Pretty!

Here’s a happy little poem for Spring:
Flowers bloom
in warm sunlight
Birdies sing
to Mother Nature’s delight.
Spring is magical
pure and clean
Spring is glorious
and oh so serene.

Happy Hugs,
Miss Chloe

Spring is in the Air

I ventured out into the garden last night, hoping to again visit with Carl. But Carl wasn’t anywhere to be found. Perhaps he really is destined to become a butterfly. Maybe he’ll flutter by someday soon. That would be nice. I could say hello to my friend and wish him well.
It was such a lovely evening. A sweet smell was in the air and tree frogs serenaded the moon as it played peek-a-boo from behind some clouds.
As I sat and pondered life, this bittersweet love poem took shape in my mind’s eye. I hope you like it.

When summer comes
and flowers bloom
I’ll be there beside you
I’ll smell your perfume.
You’ll hear a faint whisper
and feel the warmth of my touch
then you’ll smile that smile
I loved so much.

But it’s only the breeze
of summer you feel
touching and teasing
your heart.
For I am in winter now
‘tho my love will never part.

Hugs,
Miss Chloe
PS: Yes, I took this picture. Pretty Pretty!

Carl Caterpillar

I had a very interesting discussion with a caterpillar last night.
I decided to wander into the yard, as it was such a lovely evening. I saw a caterpillar walking by and bid him a good evening. The caterpillar decided to stop and chat for a while. He said his name was Carl and he was soon to become a butterfly. I thought that most peculiar, he didn’t at all look like a butterfly. Still, he insisted.
He also told me Spring was right around the corner. So I looked around the corner but could see no Spring. But again, he insisted.
Carl had a very scholarly look about him, especially with that lovely bow tie he was wearing, and he spoke with a great deal of authority. So he must be right.
We said our good-byes and he went on his way. As he slowly left my sight I wondered if he perhaps thought me to be a butterfly. I would be most flattered, if he had.
Later in the evening I told the cuddle of my little adventure and they all agreed, he indeed sounded like a most interesting fellow and obviously well educated. They would have enjoyed meeting him.
And they would definitely have to look around the corner some time, to see if Spring was there.
Hugs,
Miss Chloe

I am Me

I think I’m something special
high above the crowd
so high at times
I’m all alone
like sitting on a cloud.
But I don’t live in a make believe world
my thinking’s down to earth
I know who I am
and what I can be
I know just what I’m worth.
So when they ask of one another
just who does she think she be
I very proudly tell them
I am me!

I wrote a poem, then drew a picture with a cloud in it.
The cuddle loved them. So do I!
Hugs,
Miss Chloe

Pillow Talk

I have been putting a lot of effort into doing nothing. It’s given me much more time to spend with my cuddle. I sit on my favorite pillow and we while away the hours in peaceful chitter-chatter.
I’ve had this pillow for as long as I can remember. It’s quite large, so it’s dreamy to fall asleep on, which I often do. I find feathers poking out of it, every so often. And I’ve wondered: Who do these feathers belong to and how did they get here? We don’t have feathers. Are they birdie feathers?
Perhaps some birdies flew too fast and their feathers fell off and my lady caught the feathers as they fell from the sky. Or perhaps a large wind blew the feathers off the birdies. Or perhaps the birdies plucked them out themselves and offered them to my lady in thanks for leaving food out for them.
Then my lady made a pillow from these lovely feathers, just for me. And it’s pink! My favorite color!
I must write a thank-you note. It’s never too late to write thank-you notes.
But right now it’s time to curl up and take a nap, on my favorite pink pillow.
Hugs,
Miss Chloe

The Philosophizing Philosopher

My bones are missing, my hair is gone, my teeth I cannot see.
A life of leisure I aspire, then happy I will be.

I want to be a philosopher and philosophize, while being surrounded by my pillow laden cuddle. So that’s just what I’m going to do. The cuddle has always enjoyed my ramblings, they are all ears. And there are so many wondrous thoughts floating around in my polyfilled head.
I will put paw pad to key pad and amaze the world with my super duper thoughts. I may even write poetry. After all, I am a Pisces!
So, for now, I’m taking a sabbatical from globe trotting and swingy thingy hang gliding. Fred and Charlie are both in agreement. They too are missing a little from here and there, but still have a lot of spunk. And we all know Penny is barely hanging on to her left arm, so she’s totally for a little lazying around.
Charlie has rolled up his map, for now. But perhaps when the weather gets a bit warmer…
But no matter how comfy cozy lazy we may be, we’ll always have our parties, and we’ll always always dance.
Hugs,
Miss Chloe

Never Smile at a Crocodile

Oh my, we had quite a calamity the other night.
Our play, Peter Pan, started off beautifully. Peter, played superbly by Fred, flew in the nursery window of Wendy Darling with amazing grace. They then hooked me up to a swingy-thingy (they did not forewarn me at all) and I, being a trooper, flew off with Peter to Never-Never Land. It was lovely.
We flew to the island, played with the natives, saved Tiger-Lily (played by Penny) and fought with the pirates.
It wasn’t until Peter came to rescue me on the pirate ship that things went awry. Peter and Captain Hook (Charlie) were to have their final all-out sword fight, as I was about to walk the plank. This is where some pixie dust would’ve come in handy.
As Peter swooped in, his swingy-thingy caught the stage curtain. Peter, dragging the stage curtain behind, came crashing down, right into Hook, right into me. I fell off the plank, then the side of the pirate ship gave way and Peter and Hook fell off, landing on top of our clock bellied crocodile, and crushed it. Tinker Bell (Penny) somehow managed to stay aboard the ship, which amazed us since she was laughing so hard she could barely stand up. The three of us didn’t think it was so funny. However, the cuddle thought it was hilarious.
And it was. So we all started laughing.
Everyone survived the ordeal, well not the crocodile, but Fred did sprain his ankle some. He is staying off it, so hopefully it will heal fast.
We may rethink our next play, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and stay on solid ground for a while.
But what’s the fun in that!
Hugs,
Miss Chloe

You Can Fly!

Just a quickie, as I'm running late.
We're putting on a play tonight, Peter Pan! My absolute favorite!
Fred is playing Peter, Charlie plays Captain Hook, Penny is Tinker Bell, and I'm Wendy Darling. Charlie and Fred spent hours hooking up this swingy thingy so Fred, I mean Peter, can literally fly on stage. I can't wait to see Fred fly!
Our last play was Romeo and Juliet. Charlie was Romeo and Penny played Juliet. Their acting was sublime. They were spot-on with their speeches. It was wonderful.
Penny got to pick our last play and chose Romeo and Juliet. She’s always wanted to play Juliet. It was my turn to choose, and I picked Peter Pan because I’ve always wanted to play Wendy Darling. Oh what fun we’re going to have!
Fred and Charlie fixed our treasure map and it looks better than new. I wonder how they did that. And I don't see any blue stuff out our attic window. Oh, well.
Gotta run, the audience is getting restless.
Tell me to Break a Leg!!!
Hugs,
Miss Chloe

We Dance

Life is good in the home where I live.
My lady is light and bright and giving. She loves to dance and play and sing.
One day, long ago, she wished upon a star. The wish came to be, and the cuddle came to life.
We rarely cross paths, as we love the night and she the day. But every once in a while, every now and then, we dance. And the world stops spinning for that magical moment.
Hugs,
Miss Chloe

Busy Busy

I slept all day and I’m still sleepy. It’s been non-stop fun around here.
Friday was my birthday and the cuddle threw me a surprise party. It was a grand party, with hats, balloons, games and cake! Penny brought cupcakes, which were divine. We played pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey, one of my favorite games. And we danced until dawn.
The cuddle got together and gave me a mink wrap. Isn’t it ever so lovely! And it goes perfectly with my diamond earrings. Charlie took this picture.
Last night was our regular Saturday night dance. We were a bit tired from the previous night’s festivities, but we all enjoyed the evening. We so love to dance.

I told you about the treasure map Charlie found a few days ago. Well, Charlie decided to clean it, as it was dirty and hard to read. After sponging it off, Charlie decided to dry it in my lady’s clothes dryer. Poor Charlie, he’s so embarrassed. He nearly destroyed our priceless map. But we let him know it was okay, putting his mind at ease.
Fred and Charlie are now trying to salvage what’s left.
Hugs,
Miss Chloe

Happy Almost Birthday to Me!

Tomorrow is my birthday! I'm so excited. The cuddle is throwing me a surprise birthday party. Don't tell them I know!
There'll be cake and ice cream, dancing and party games, and presents! Oh, how I love presents. I'm so excited I can't sleep!!!
My age? Ladies never tell.
Hugs,
Miss Chloe
